Described as "A Triumph of Grande Champagne" by cognacexpert.com, Hine Triomphe was first created in 1888 to celebrate the winegrower's stand against the phylloxera epidemic, a vine disease that decimated European vineyards and brought the Cognac industry to its knees. Classified as an 'hors d’age' (beyond XO), it's composed of over fifty fully-matured Grande Champagne eaux-de-vies set aside over fifty years ago and matured in small casks in Hine's Jarnac cellars. Aficionados will note that a decanter version sells for much more than this 'standard' presentation, the latter providing Cognac lovers with a more affordable opportunity at one of Hine's super premium bottlings. Very limited stocks.

Other reviews... A lovely opening bouquet of tropical fruit; following further aeration, the bouquet becomes deeper as the oak enters the equation along with honey and beeswax. The palate entry is sweet with overtones of marzipan and light caramel; at midpalate the taste profile highlights the oaky vanilla and honey elements. Concludes gracefully, integrated and semisweet. 40% Alc./Vol. 90-95 points / Superb/Highly Recommended - wineenthusiast.com
