Gabriel Boudier Curacao Bleu (Blue Curacao) Liqueur (500ml)
The name "Curaçao" originates from the island of Curaçao, part of the Netherlands Antilles. The liqueur bearing its name was originally made by the Dutch and composed of peels from bitter oranges or Seville oranges. At Gabriel Boudier, small bitter oranges are carefully distilled then enhanced with a natural flavour and just the right amount of sugar. While this visually bedazzling liqueur doesn't quite match its bouquet, given enough air time, more of the expected fresh orange character emerges. The palate is medium bodied, semi-sweet and undeniably citrusy in an orange-spice cake way rather than a full-on fresh fruit attack. The finish isn't profound, but maintains sufficient zest to rank as one of the more authentic Bleus. For straight sipping or cocktails, this is arguably the preferred choice because the sugars are more controlled than most. The 'Blue Lagoon' is the liqueur's signature cocktail, featuring Blue Curaçao mixed with vodka and lemonade, typically garnished with an orange slice or a lemon slice. 25% Alc./Vol.
