Douglas Laing's Rock Island 16 Year Old Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Following the success of the 14 year old Sherry Edition in 2023, the Laings decided to take it a step further. This is the first time a whisky under the Rock Island label has been released as a 16 year old. Uniting single malts from the famous Whisky islands of Orkney, Arran, Jura and Islay, before experiencing a maturation predominately in hand-selected Spanish Sherry Casks, it's a subtle, smoky and sweet celebration of maritime character. Expect notes of dried fruits, walnuts, and nutmeg, while malt and vanilla add depth, culminating in a finish of honeycomb and toasted almonds. 46.8% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Other reviews... I really enjoyed this, and I’m sad to say that Douglas Laing’s selection of blended malts always fly under my radar, and I’m honestly not sure why. I don’t taste a lot of sherry in this at all, but it certainly is driving some of those sweeter notes on the nose through in a very loving way.
