Benoit Dehu La Rue des Noyers Champagne
Benoit Dehu's La Rue des Noyers is a 100% Pinot Meunier from a biodynamically farmed 1.7 hectare plot in Fossoy with dark limestone soils. Fermented and aged for ten months in used 228 litter barrels but with no malolactic, no racking, no filtering, no cold stabilization and no fining.
The NV (2013) Extra Brut Cuvée La Rue des Noyers Non-Dosé is a rich, ample wine built on texture and layers of deep, resonant fruit. From the very first taste, the 2013 shows itself to be a Champagne of real breadth. Hints of orange peel, roasted nuts, minerals, ash, chamomile, dried flowers and spice all flesh out in the glass. A deceptively mid-weight wine, the 2013 is enveloping in feel, but also has softer contours than the more explosive 2012 tasted alongside it. This is all finesse. Disgorged: April 2016. Non-dosé.
