Recently discovered in a wholesaler's warehouse is one of the smallest outturns from Ardnamurchan on record. Originally intended as a bar exclusive, maturation in a single first-fill oloroso sherry octave accounts for the whisky's advanced colour, depth of flavour and aromatics. The first sniff offers a heady combination of unadulterated oloroso and sweet smoke; aerate it and the peat retreats giving way to a lovely nuttiness that's echoed on the palate. The richness of the malt emerges alongside oily phenols before a deep, prolonged finish, the entire profile laced with pepper. It's like Glengoyne 18 year old spiked with cask strength Ledaig; also one of the most intense, sherry-soaked Ardnamurchans we've tasted to date.
