2025 Viognier By Farr
Concentrated but not heavy with beautiful textural shape and an undeniable freshness.
Fruit is sourced from the original 1994 house block (friable red soil over limestone and sandstone) and a younger planting on red ironstone. Viognier is notoriously demanding in the vineyard, prone to horizontal growth, sunburn, and requiring ample water, so in recent years the fruit has been picked earlier to preserve natural acidity and finesse. The wine spends 11 months in barrel before racking, fining, filtration, and bottling.
Brilliant pale straw colour with green highlighted edges and a watery hue. Drifting through the nostrils are aromas of white peach, apricot and honeysuckle which intermix with hints of grilled nut and ginger spice. Showing beautiful textural shape and an undeniable freshness, the palate is detailed with ripe peach and apricot fruits which meld into a back drop of grilled nuts, spicy nougat, citrus, subtle honeysuckle and ginger. Possesses excellent concentration without being heavy and whilst a touch restrained now, it will build further complexity and texture with bottle age. Finishes with great length and refinement.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
