2025 Stargazer Pinot Noir
Coal River Valley, Tasmania, AUSTRALIA
Alluring, supple and expansive with an extraordinarily long finish.
This Pinot Noir comes exclusively from Stargazer's own vineyards in the Tea Tree sub-region of the Coal River Valley, where two separate parcels were planted in 2002 and 2017 respectively. The vineyard is composed of different clones, with most being G5V12 or Wadenswil, with some Abel, 115, 777, and MV6 clones added from the 2017 planting. The fruit is hand-picked, and destemmed (with 33% kept as whole bunches) to vats, where they undergo a cold soak for three days before fermentation begins. After primary fermentation, the must is pressed to French oak puncheons (with 25% being new), where it matures on lees for eight months before being transferred, racked, and blended in a tank for a further rest of eight weeks before bottling.
Bright red colour with a light crimson red hue. Displaying a perfumed like intensity, alluring aromas of violet, dark cherry, strawberry and anise hypnotise the olfactory senses. Subtle fresh herb, forest floor, brambly cedar and spice notes also chime in. Supple and light on it’s feet yet rich and expansive, the palate features a peacock’s tail like power wave of dark cherry, wild strawberry and subtle anise flavours. Bramble, forest floor, infusions of fresh herbs and spicy cedar provide further complexity across the back half. Wonderfully fresh, it has silky smooth tannins and an extraordinarily long finish. A magnificent Pinot that makes for irresistible drinking.
