2025 Domaine Christian Moreau Chablis Vaillon Premier Cru

Domaine Christian Moreau is one of the most respected names in Chablis blessed with magnificent vineyard holdings in the best areas of Chablis. The highlights are undoubtedly the amazing range of Grand cru vineyards including one single holding of approximately 3 hectares in Les Clos as well as 0.41 hectares of Clos des Hospices dans Les Clos plus slightly smaller holdings in Valmur, Blanchots and Vaudesir. The wines are gaining in even clearer expression with the vineyards having been certified organic since 2013 and together with some new tanks and other investments the results are showing clearly in the wines with each vintage. These are wines of precision, crystal clear typicity, and elegance that will age classically while enabling tremendous enjoyment throughout their lives.

The 2025 Chablis Vaillon 1er Cru has a strict nose with touches of yellow fruit mixed with crushed stone and green apple. It gradually unfurls but keeps its foot on the brakes. The palate is well-balanced with a peachy opening. In fact, I would mistake this for a Côte de Beaune (Chassagne?) if I were served this blind. Very harmonious on the finish, this should drink well for several years. Drink 2027-2036.
