2025 Cantina Santadi Villa Solais Vermentino di Sardegna
Sardinia, ITALY
A scrumptious Sardinian dry white that’s intensely flavoured and texturally voluminous.
Cantina Santadi, from Sardinia’s southwestern coastal region known as Sulcis, was founded in 1960 as a cooperative of local growers. Under the guidance of Antonello Pilloni, Santadi has become one of Sardinia’s finest wineries today made up of more than 200 growers farming 600 hectares.
This Vermentino is made with 10% Nuragus, another local variety, and is matured for a few months on lees in stainless steel to provide the wine with an extra dimension of texture and flavour.
Brilliant very pale straw colour with green tinged edges and a watery hue. Aromas of lime zest, Granny Smith apple and citrus are followed by some fresh Mediterranean herb and slatey mineral notes. The scrumptious palate displays wonderfully intensity and drive with lime, green apple skin and pear fruits engulfing the mouth. Zesty acidity with infusions of fresh herbs, mandarin and a saline like minerality sitting underneath. Texturally voluminous it finishes dry, long and tangy.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.
