2025 Bicknell FC Lance Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon
Yarra Valley, Victoria, AUSTRALIA
Fresh, elegant red fruits with a highly finessed finish.
From one of the oldest vineyards in the Yarra Valley planted in 1976. Midnight black heart with a deep dark purple hue. Fragrant red currant aromas tinged with violet are intermeshed with mulberry, fresh herb, dusty earth, tobacco leaf and spicy black olive notes. Fresh and elegant, the palate is detailed with mulberry and red currant fruits. Earth, brambly cedar, rhubarb and spicy dried herb accents line the back half. Fine grained tannin structure with a long, highly finessed finish.
Drink over the next 8-10 years.
Alc. 12.2%
Other Reviews…..
From the Lance vineyard in St. Andrews and off a block planted in 1976. 100% whole berries and matured in older barriques. A gorgeous crimson purple. This literally soars from the glass, with its fruit-driven nose redolent of blackcurrant, red cherry, lavender and just a soupçon of dried herbs. Medium bodied, the wine's crunchy fruit is balanced by bright acidity and gently chewy tannins, making this delicious, particularly so with food, right now. That it will age effortlessly over the next six to eight years, at least, is a bonus. Drink by 2036.
