2024 Umani Ronchi Casal di Serra Verdicchio Classico Superiore
Crunchy and juicy with a long, scrumptious mineral laced finish.
Verdicchio is one of the most widely planted white grape varieties in the Marche region of central Italy. First produced in 1983 this is Umani Ronchi’s flagship Verdicchio. Grapes are selected from four vineyards ranging from 8 to 30 years old, with fermentation taking place in stainless steel tanks and the wine given approximately 5 months lees contact to build its textural attributes.
Brilliant pale straw colour with green tinted edges and a watery hue. Lifted lime, pear and green apple scents infused with fresh herbs are followed by some guava and slatey mineral notes. Juicy lime, guava and green apple fruits are underscored by crunchy acidity with infusions of fresh herbs and flinty mineral elements lingering through the long, scrumptious finish.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.

Other Reviews….
A ripe, floral nose with baked apples and lemons, pressed flowers and a hint of ginger-tinged honey, turning immediately vivid and intense on the medium-bodied palate and driving through the long, tightly packed finish. Yet, it remains a well-proportioned verdicchio with a lovely, silky texture. From organically grown grapes. Fun to drink now.
