Rich and succulent with a long plump finish.

Named as a tribute to the legendary Barossa Vignerons who pioneered the planting of the old treasured vineyards, the Grenache fruit is the ‘soul’ of this blend and is predominately sourced from an exceptionally low yielding 50+ year-old Light Pass Vineyard. It was originally planted by the Kennedy Family, with ownership eventually being passed onto the charismatic Leo ‘Joe’ KENNEDY who nurtured the vines for many years, selling his prized fruit to local winemakers.
A blend of 51% Grenache, 31% Shiraz and 18% Mourvedre sourced from a wide variety of Barossa’s sub districts with the vines aged between 35 to 99 years old. Maturation took place in a mixture of seasoned oak hogsheads and puncheons for a period 12 months.

Totally opaque dark red black colour with a dark red hue. Wafting out of the glass are aromas of dark raspberry, plum, liquorice and ripe blueberry followed by some vanillin spice and scorched earth notes. Rich, succulent and quite flamboyant, the medium to full bodied palate is swamped with dark plum, liquorice and dark raspberry fruits. Some ripe blueberry, scorched earth and peppered dried herb elements form the undercard. Velvet smooth tannins with a long, plump finish.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
