2024 Sangreal By Farr Pinot Noir

Deeply concentrated and powerful this a highly seductive Sangreal.

Planted in 1994, Sangreal is By Farr's oldest vineyard, lying on a north-facing slope with bluestone and limestone soils streaked with red ironstone. Its unique north–south orientation and long exposure to sunlight produce Pinot Noir of lift, perfume, and seamless elegance. Over the decades, the 114 and 115 clones have evolved into what the Farrs call the "Sangreal clone," giving this site its own microclimate identity. Sangreal is consistently made with 70 per cent whole bunch and aged in 70 percent new oak.

Deep dark red colour with black toned edges and a red tinged hue. Displaying a wonderful combination of potency and complexity, the nose is filled with violet, spicy red to dark cherry, wild strawberry, clove, forest floor, brambly earth and spicy cedar notes. Deeply concentrated and powerful, a tidal wave of spicy dark cherry, strawberry and more subtle brambly rhubarb like flavours are layered across the palate. Juicy and supple yet also fresh, earthy forest floor, clove and spicy cedar elements linger across the back half. Seamless tannin integration with an exceptionally long and expansive finish. A highly seductive Sangreal.
