A supple, mid weighted Heathcote Cabernet with a long, finessed mint and bay leaf laced finish.

Midnight black colour with a dark red black tinged hue. Pronounced blackcurrant and liquorice aromas infused with choc mint interplay with spicy vanillin cedar, subtle earth and bay leaf. The supple mid weighted palate is detailed with rich blackcurrant and choc mint flavours which meld into a spicy vanillin cedar, earth and bay leaf back drop. Polished fine grained tannins are seamlessly integrated with the long, finessed mint and bay leaf laced finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

Other Reviews….
Small open ferments, large percentage whole berries, carbonic maceration, 28 days on skins, maturation in Bordeaux coopered oak (20% new). A serious cabernet for the price, one built for distance and a protein-rich food partner. Classic Heathcote poise on display, not to mention some regional down-to-earthiness with bush notes, mint and herbals, which bring added life and spice. Black fruits, cassis, cedary leaf, gum leaf, peppermint, wild herbs, cocoa and savoury leather come wrapped densely around firm tannins. Bring on the barbecue steak and chips, or wait a little longer. Drink by 2037.

Jeni Port - James Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion

The 2024 Majors Creek Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is leafy and leads with notes of sweet tobacco, cracked pink peppercorns, aniseed, dark chocolate, blood plum and tapenade. The palate is fine, shaped by elegant/spicy tannins and notes of dried herbs and earth through the finish. This is a beautiful wine, one of Claret-weight and old-school styling. It is absolutely gorgeous and warmly recommended. The price is great too—cheap, around $38 AUD, available via the mailing list. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. Drink 2026-2044.
