Produced by a husband and wife team whose wines have previously featured under our Nicks Secret guise, this Shiraz delivers on Barossa Valley’s hallmark power and richness yet is both complex and refined. Sourced from a single vineyard planted in 1988, located in the Greenock sub district, it’s matured for 19 months in a 3000L French oak vat.

Rich and gorgeously plush, this showcases classic Barossa power within a beautifully refined framework.

Dense pitch black heart with a dark red black tinged hue. Pronounced dark plum, liquorice and dark to black cherry aromas are complexed by notions of smoked meats, vanillin cedar, scorched earth and peppered dried herbs. Rich, plush and concentrated yet not overweight, the savoury palate is redolent in dark plum, liquorice and dark to black cherry fruits. Dried herb, vanillin cedar, subtle scorched earth and peppered fennel elements lend further interest. Powerful yet refined it has seamlessly integrated, silky smooth tannins and a long, highly finessed finish that carries a polished feel.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

Other Reviews….
Sourced from David Materne's vineyard in Greenock – 1.6ha planted in 1988 on sandy loam over rich clay. This is the 20th consecutive release from this vineyard, matured in large format French oak (17% new) for 22 months. A wine in fine form from the very strong '24 vintage. Gorgeous macerated damson plum, black cherry and blueberry fruits over hints of Medina spice, pan juices, olive tapenade, some liminal crushed herbs, wildflowers, milk chocolate, gentle cedar tones and a tendril of subtle ferrous interest. Full bodied, with a lovely fruit weight, a wisp of struck-flint reduction, fine, powdery, ironstone-flecked tannins and a long, graceful arc of flavour on the exit. Drink by 2041.
