2024 Nicks Secret HBBS TL Barossa Shiraz

From a producer renown for their blockbuster Barossa reds, this richly flavoured Shiraz has been made in an Amarone style whereby the grapes are rack dried to concentrate the fruit. The resulting wine was then matured in French oak for a period of 18 months. At over 50% off it delivers great value for those who like their Shiraz on the bigger side of town.

Magnificent colour density featuring a super saturated inky black heart along with an equally deep dark purple black hue. Peppery black cherry, black plum and liquorice scents infiltrate the olfactory senses followed by some fennel, scorched earth and spicy vanillin cedar notes. Rich, dense and concentrated, the full bodied palate is engulfed with lavish black cherry, liquorice and dark to black plum fruits. Opulent mouth feel with chewy, robust tannins providing structure. Spicy vanillin cedar, subtle scorched earth and peppered fennel characters extend across the back half. Power packed it finishes with great density, length and succulence.

A strikingly modern Barossa Shiraz that bursts from the glass with freshness, clarity and energy. Blueberry and dark berry fruits lead the way, vibrant and pure, before subtle notes of espresso bean, spice and crushed mineral detail add depth and sophistication.
The palate is bright, juicy and mouth-wateringly delicious, with beautifully handled fruit intensity balanced by a lively lift and fine savoury edge. There is a polished contemporary feel here, but still plenty of Barossa generosity, carried by excellent freshness and a long, moreish finish. A superb Shiraz with real style and precision.
