2024 Ministry of Clouds Tempranillo Grenache

A rich, juicy mid weighted blend with a gentle chewy feel across the expressive finish.

Deep dark red black tinged heart with a dark red hue. Aromas of dark raspberry, liquorice and dark to black cherry engulf the nostrils followed by some earthy incense and peppered dried herb notes. Rich and juicy the mid weighted palate is awash with dark raspberry, liquorice and black cherry fruits which meld into a savoury back drop of scorched earth, dried herb, spicy incense like infusions and pepper. Grainy tannins impart a gentle chewy feel across what is an expressive finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

This was conceived as a contemporary Vale restaurant red, some 13 vintages ago. Today, the blend has benefitted from new estate-planted clones of tempranillo. As is the way here, this saw an array of nuanced ferments, 17 in total. The grenache came from Clarendon. The refined tension at modest weight is key, with those cola and sarsaparilla notes of the tempranillo (74%) reflected in a savoury key, and the grenache (26%) opening the nose and palate, contributing dried cherry cranberry and orange peel – or that’s how it feels. Aromatic, lighter medium-weighted, savoury and delicious. Drink by 2030.
