2024 Farrside By Farr Pinot Noir
Geelong, Victoria, AUSTRALIA
Light and supple in its flow with a smoky, bramble like complexity and long, expansive finish.
Planted in 2001 on a northeast-facing slope of dark volcanic soils over limestone, the Farrside vineyard produces a more structured and brooding style of Pinot Noir compared to its Sangreal counterpart. Hand-picked and wild-fermented, the fruit sees partial whole bunch inclusion before maturing in 50–60% new Allier oak.
Red to dark red in colour with black toned edges and a light red to darker red hue. Intense red cherry, violet and wild strawberry scents infused with dried clove sail out of the glass trailed by some complexing rhubarb, bramble, forest floor and spice notes. Light and supple in its flow, a power wave of red to dark cherry, strawberry, rhubarb, bramble and clove flavours fan out across the palate like a peacocks tail. Forest floor, smoked meat and spicy cedar elements lend further sophistication. Wonderful balance and freshness with seamlessly integrated, fine grained tannins and a long, expansive finish.
Drink over the next 8-10 years.
