2024 Corymbia Rocket’s Vineyard Tempranillo Malbec

Juicy and amply fleshed with lively acidity and ripe, chewy tannins.

A blend of 52% Tempranillo and 48% Malbec matured in seasoned French oak demi muids for a period of 10 months. Dense pitch black heart with a vibrant dark red black tinged hue. Expressive aromas of dark raspberry, blueberry and red liquorice are trailed by some fresh herb and spicy earth notes. Juicy dark cherry, blueberry and red plum fruits carry ample flesh across the mid weighted palate. Lively acidity lends freshness with notions of dried herbs and spicy earth sitting in the background. Ripe chewy tannins with a bright, succulently fruited finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

An almost half-half blend of the two varieties from this significant patch of Swan Valley dirt. A rollicking, fruity, spicy, dark and chewy number that does great justice to the warmth of the region while offering a cooler refrain from there. Deep, forest berry fruitiness, jammy and fresh, with dashes of cinnamon spice, rosemary herbal inflection, choc-licorice and riffs of pumice-stone–like tannin shaping it all into a crunch and chew. Lush, lovely and warming and yet with balance an inherent motif. Delicious drinking. Drink by 2030.

The 2024 Tempranillo Malbec Rocket's Vineyard has good impact, with rich cherry, mulberry and licorice flavors providing a fleshy opening. The wine then steps up a notch in a flavorsome and unforced package, with subtle savory varietal influences and marked sinewy tannins adding depth and definition to a confident finish. An unusual blend in a hot season done well. Drink 2026-2034.
