2024 Chateau Tanunda Grand Barossa Shiraz

Rich and seductively plush Barossa Shiraz.

Matured for 18 months in a combination of new and seasoned French and American oak barrels. Dense pitch black colour with a deep dark red black hue. Leaping from the glass are ripe blackberry, liquorice and black cherry aromas which intermingle with vanillin cedar and peppered fennel notes. Rich, opulent and concentrated, the palate is awash with lush black cherry, liquorice and blackberry fruits. Spicy vanillin cedar, fennel and blackpepper elements line the back half. Showing ample power and depth it has velvet smooth tannins and a long, seductively plush finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

A definite contender for best value of the year, this is compelling evidence that one can drink extremely well, wines chock full of flavour, without breaking the bank. Maturation is usually for around fifteen months in a mix of new and older French and American oak. Opaque maroon in colour, on the nose we have notes of plums and mulberries, soy, tobacco leaves, coffee grinds, sarsaparilla and blackcurrants. There is a sleek texture through to the satiny tannins and the wine has excellent length. Seamless and finely balanced, this is delicious drinking now and will surely remain so for at least ten to fifteen years, if you can keep your hands off it that long. Cracking value. Drink 2026-2041.
