2024 Chalmers Nero d’Avola
A mid weighted Nero with savoury cherry fruits, energetic acidity and a relatively elegant finish.
Dark red in colour with black toned edges and a red to dark red hue. Spicy dark cherry and liquorice aromas intermingle with earthy incense and subtle dried herb notes. Mid weighted the palate features savoury morello and dark cherry as well as some liquorice fruit. Earthy incense like characters, delicate dried herb and spice elements sit in the background. Energetic acidity and fine gravelly tannins with a relatively elegant finish.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

Other Reviews…..
Wild fermentation in stainless steel, whole berry, mlf, unfined. Sicily's bold, sweet fruited nero is making a real connection with Aussie drinkers. The fruit is the thing, so bright and red-berried in a world of cherries, raspberries and plums, with equally lively spiciness. There's another side to the wine, too, a smoked charcuterie side, earthy, savoury, dressed in wild herbs and red licorice and delivered on sinewy tannins and brisk acidity. And, boy, does it last on the tongue. Drink by 2029.
