2024 Alamos Malbec
A juicy, flavour filled Malbec that makes for super everyday drinking.
Alamos is the entry level label for Argentinian giant Catena offering the best of Mendoza’s high altitude vineyards at an incredible price. Grown on foothills of the Andes Mountains at elevations of 3,000 to 5,000 feet, the intense sunlight, cool evening temperatures and mineral-rich irrigation from melted mountain snow translates to a rich wine with intense flavour characteristics.
A blend of 90% Malbec and 10% Bonarda aged for between 6-8 months in French oak. Deep black dark red core with a dark red hue. Elevated dark to black cherry, ripe blueberry and liquorice scents make their way out of the glass followed by some dried herb, scorched earth and spice notes. The juicy, mid weighted palate is filled with rich dark to black cherry, liquorice and blueberry fruits. Sitting in the background are spicy dried herb and scorched earth elements. Fine grained tannins with a long, ripe, well fleshed finish. One of the best Alamos Malbecs to date.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
