2023 Yeringberg Cabernets
Yeringberg is a historic Yarra Valley estate, first established in 1863 and now under the stewardship of the fifth generation of the de Pury family. Once one of the region’s most celebrated vineyards, production ceased in 1921 before being revived by Guill and Katherine de Pury in 1969. Today, winemaker Sandra de Pury leads the winery, working alongside her brother David who manages the vineyard. With some of the oldest vines in the Yarra Valley, Yeringberg continues to produce elegant, age-worthy wines that reflect both heritage and thoughtful custodianship.
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot from vines planted between 1969 and 2000, fermented in small open fermenters with extended skin contact, then matured for 21 months in barrique, 40% new. A classic multi-varietal expression shaped by a favourable growing season and long elevage.

A blend of 61/13/12/8/6% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/cabernet franc/malbec/petit verdot from vines planted at this historic site from 1969–2000. A bright crimson purple. A wonderfully complex and perfumed bouquet redolent of blackcurrants and wild blackberry together with new pencil box shavings, sweet spice and crushed violets. Medium bodied, in the best sense of the term, with the fruit, oak and seamless tannins coming together as one. It may not be the most long-lived Yeringberg ever, but it will provide an enormous amount of enjoyment over the next 10–15 years. Drink 2025-2040.

Soft and savory aromas of blackcurrants, licorice, Asian spices, dark cherries and violets. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with finely tuned tannins and focused acidity that lead to a bright and plush mouthfeel. A soft, bright wine from a cool vintage that is constructed with a soft hand. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
