2023 Yalumba Sanctum Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon

An elegant red fruited Cabernet of medium length.

Deep dark red black shaded colour with a dark red hue. Fragrant red currant and mulberry scents are complimented by cedary tobacco, earth and subtle bay leaf notes. Mid weighted the palate has an elegant flavour profile of red currant and mulberry fruits over a cedary tobacco, dusty earth and spicy tomato leaf infused back drop. Fine grained tannins with a finessed, red fruited finish of medium length.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

Hails from the Menzies Estate vineyard, smack bang in the middle of Coonawarra on those famous terra rossa over limestone soils. The aromas provide a slightly interesting departure from the fairly typical blackcurrant, which is still there but augmented with a subtle blueberry note. Typically elegant and poised, which is what you’d expect from Coonawarra, but there is a deceptive structural integrity here that gives it purpose and definition to carry through to a sustained long finish. It will continue to improve with further cellaring. Drink 2026-2036.
