2023 Pyrette Heathcote Shiraz
From Colbinabbin’s highest block on the Mount Camel Range in Heathcote, Pyrette is produced with the same gentle, detailed approach as Bindi’s Pinots, though here with around 20% whole bunch fermentation. Matured for a year in French oak, the 2023 shows lifted violet, dark plum, earth, and chocolate notes. Expect a supple, medium-weight palate framed by silky tannins and excellent length—equally rewarding now or with eight years in the cellar.
Alc. 13.5%
Other Reviews....
An exuberant, dark red-purple; a powerful wine with charry oak dominating in this youthful stage, but underneath, a core of dark fruit spiced to the max, infused with cedar and a more exotic sandalwood note. Full bodied, with ripe, powerful tannins and some charcuterie-like reduction, appealing but clips the finish. Give this more time in the cellar to amalgamate. Drink 2025-2035.
