2023 Main Divide Pinot Noir
Light to mid weight with generous spicy dark fruits and a meaty feel.
Dark red core with black toned edges and a dark red hue. Lifted spicy dark cherry and rhubarb aromas are trailed by some smoky cedar, dried herb and brambly earth like notes. Generous spicy dark cherry and strawberry fruits line the light to mid weighted palate with savoury undertones of brambly cedar, scorched earth and dried herbs. Slightly grainy tannins impart a meaty feel across the otherwise fleshy textured, spicy finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 13%
Other Reviews…..
I poured this Main Divide Pinot Noir at the Pinot Palooza event last year and my challenge to allcomers was simple: find me a better value Pinot in the room. No one could and I doubt you will either.
Main Divide is Pegasus Bay's second-tier offering. For those who can't afford the elevated prices of top Pinots, you are in very good hands here. Savoury deluxe in the Pegasus Bay style, it opens with dried leaves, twigs, pine needles, mushroom broth and tilled earth. The dark berry fruit has a slight abrasive, rustic edge entwined with woodsy and earthy spices. A meaty finish washes through - think cured meats and salami adding intrigue and depth. With its interplay of fruit, savoury nuance and length, this is an impressively complete Pinot Noir for the price. Go here.
