2023 Linke Shiraz
Decadently rich and voluptuous in it’s texture with a long sweet, jammy conclusion.
Located in Tanunda in the Barossa, Linke remains a 5th generation family owned producer. Their two vineyards - the "Stonewell Block" on the western side of the Barossa, and the "Dorrien" which is on the valley floor, consistently produce top notch fruit for renowned labels (including St Halletts and Langmeil). Since 2002, a portion of fruit has been reserved for the family's own label utilising vines that have an average age of 20 years old. Maturation is American oak, 90% used and 10% new.
Inky black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Wafting through the nostrils are potent aniseed, black plum and mocha aromas which are followed by some toasty vanillin oak, fennel and subtle spicy earth notes. Decadently rich and voluptuous in it’s texture, the palate is drenched in a tidal wave of black plum, liquorice and mocha flavours. Toasty vanillin oak, earthy fennel and spicy pepper elements lurk underneath. Velvet smooth tannins with a long sweet, jammy conclusion that carries a lavish feel.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
