2023 Les Champs Libres Blanc (Chateau Lafleur)
Other Reviews....
The Les Champs Libres 2023 Blanc is one of the white wines of the vintage. Exhaling aromas of lime blossom, spices, confit citrus, lemon oil and spring flowers, it’s chalky and concentrated with fleshy, structuring tannins and bright acids that segues into a long, saline and mineral finish. This is crafted from 100% Sancerrois massal selections of Sauvignon Blanc. Kudos! Drink 2025-2045.

The 2023 Les Champs Libres is just as impressive as it was in barrel. Aromatic, airy and lifted, Champs Libres is captivating. Lemon peel, chalk, white pepper, mint and sage open beautifully in the glass. There's a lightness in the 2023 that is so appealing. Readers will find a dry white that is all about understatement and class. Drink 2025-2030.

Mineral and tense on the nose, with a timid, stony austerity and subtle floral and melon notes. The palate is chalky, precise and cutting, revealing fruit gradually along a defined, linear thread accented by white pepper. Vibrant acidity and an elegant, delicate effervescence lead to an intensely taut, focused finish. An exceptional white from the Right Bank—refined, energetic and built to evolve. Drink now or hold.

All Sauvignon Blanc that was fermented and aged nine months in 75% new French oak barrels with the balance in one-year-old barrels, the 2023 Guinaudeau Vignerons Les Champs Libres Blanc is a brilliant, legit great white wine that ranks with the crème de la crème of the vintage. Stone fruits, citrus, crushed stone, mint, and salty minerality all emerge from the bouquet, and it's medium-bodied and concentrated, with integrated acidity and a great finish. This is a dead ringer for a Les Perrières from Meursault. Don't miss it. Drink 2026-2040.

A spiced, fragranced, honeyed lemon on the nose - wild honey with white flowers, jasmine and ginger. Instantly so upfront and impactful, succulent and juicy - stimulating straight away but fragrant and delicate too. Lightly presented, a touch creamy, still with high acidity but more structured and well built. Very well made, intense flavour matched with coolness, brightness, satsuma juice, lemon, soy sauce, vanilla, ginger, honeysuckle and peach. Lovely stuff. A wine to think about. Drink 2026-2036.
