Spectacular colour featuring an impenetrable inky black heart along with an equally deep black dark red hue. Dark plum, liquorice and black cherry aromas are intermeshed with smoky vanillin cedar, earthy fennel and pepper notes. Rich, dense and sturdily built, the full bodied palate is engulfed with luscious black cherry, liquorice and dark plum fruits. Spicy vanillin cedar, fennel and peppered earth characters sit in the background. Lively acidity with a chewy yet opulent mouth feel and muscular tannin structure. Lush, youthfully inky finish.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.

Aged mainly in third- and fourth-fill American and French oak, with some new barrels, for 16 months. There’s something reassuringly classic about this, about the silky cascade of brambly forest fruits, the inflections of chocolate and humus-rich earth, some iodine and violet, the light sprinkling of warm spices and dried herbs. Yes, it’s familiar, but it’s not old fashioned, with balance à point and oak a present but discreet chaperone. Tradition with a modern lens, and delicious drinking. Drink by 2033.
