2023 Guigal Cotes du Rhone
Rich, concentrated and opulent yet chewy textured, this delicious Cotes du Rhone is a model of consistency.
With an average annual production of around 4 million bottles, this wine is a model of consistency year in year out and one of Cotes du Rhone’s best buys. The 2023 vintage is a blend of 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre sourced from vines with an average age of 25 years. Maturation takes place in oak casks for a period of 18 months.
Very deep black dark red core with a dark red hue. Black raspberry, liquorice and ripe black cherry scents flood the nostrils complimented by some provincial herb, scorched earth and peppered meat notes. Rich, concentrated and opulent yet chewy textured, the medium to full bodied palate is swamped with lush black raspberry, liquorice and black cherry fruits. Gently muscular tannins with notions of scorched earth, herbs du Provence and blackpepper forming the underbelly. Ripe and generously fleshed it has a long yet slightly robust finish.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
