2023 Greywacke Pinot Noir
An elegant, tightly structured and savoury Pinot Noir.
Matured in French oak barriques, 30% new. Dark red in colour with black shaded edges and a red to dark red hue. Spicy dark cherry and rhubarb scents drift through the nostrils trailed by some dried herb, stalk and earthy graphite like notes. Elegant, tightly structured and savoury, the palate features spicy rhubarb and cherry flavours over a dried herb, stalky cedar and forest floor back drop. Grainy tannins lending a slightly chalky feel across the fresh, elegant finish which has a tense feel to it.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 13%
Other Reviews......
Beautifully fragrant, this opens with fresh violets and just-picked cherries. Some lavender and rosehip. Boysenberries and oolong tea leaves. Some star anise spice. Fruit is very youthful, tannins graze at the edges of the palate, and acidity glides through. This is well packaged as a whole, slinky, juicy and with just enough savoury turned-earth tones to anchor the oak spice. Some granitic soil and cherry pit to finish.
