2023 Domaine de la Vougeraie Gevrey-Chambertin Bel Air Premier Cru
Burgundy, FRANCE
Other Reviews...
An expressive and very pretty nose freely offers up its aromas of black pinot fruit that are also nuances by hints of violet and kirsch. The much finer but not denser medium weight flavors possess a super-sleek mouthfeel along with evident minerality on the balanced, lingering and youthfully austere finale that would benefit from developing more depth. Drink through 2031+.

Allen Meadows - Burghound
The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Bel-Air 1er Cru includes 30% whole bunches this year. This has a mineral-driven bouquet with crushed limestone, redcurrant, raspberry and just a touch of brown spice and pressed violet. The palate is medium-bodied with an understated, quite fleshy entry. This is a Gevrey that welcomes you with open arms, easygoing in some ways, with a svelte finish. It will just require a couple of years in bottle. Drink 2026-2040.

Neal Martin - Vinous
A lively ruby colour with an exquisite bouquet, very floral and delicate red fruits, 20% whole bunch vinification. Sylvie tells me that everybody was fighting to work on this vat because the aromatics were so exquisite all the way through. Excellent grip through ideal acidity and very fine tannins, this will be a dream. Drink from 2029-2036.
