Founded in 1972 by Charles and Marie-Francoise Audoin, Domaine Charles Audoin has been central to Marsannay's evolution into one of the Cote de Nuits' most engaging appellations. From an initial three hectares, it has grown to fourteen across many of the village's key sites. Since taking over in 2000, Cyril Audoin has brought a quiet precision to both vineyard and cellar, guiding the estate to organic certification and overseeing the construction of a purpose-built winery. The result is a style that feels unmistakably of Marsannay: pure, composed, and full of energy.

Situated in the centre of the Marsannay sector, La Charme aux Pretres has reddish-brown gravel over limestone bedrock. The high limestone content lends the wines tension and structure, with impressive capacity to age.

Light reduction blurs the nuances of what appears to be mostly ripe dark berry fruit aromas. More interesting are the generously proportioned and rich medium weight flavors that coat the palate with sappy dry extract while exhibiting solid power on the saline, youthfully austere and firm finale. This is a seductive wine that should have no trouble repaying up to a decade of keeping. Drink through 2031+.
