Coming Soon - 2023 Domaine Charles Audoin Marsannay Clos du Roy
Founded in 1972 by Charles and Marie-Francoise Audoin, Domaine Charles Audoin has been central to Marsannay's evolution into one of the Cote de Nuits' most engaging appellations. From an initial three hectares, it has grown to fourteen across many of the village's key sites. Since taking over in 2000, Cyril Audoin has brought a quiet precision to both vineyard and cellar, guiding the estate to organic certification and overseeing the construction of a purpose-built winery. The result is a style that feels unmistakably of Marsannay: pure, composed, and full of energy.
Clos du Roy is the northernmost vineyard of Marsannay, sitting above the town of Chenove on a relatively steep, south-east facing slope. Its light red, sandy soils over hard limestone yield some of the appellation's most elegant and aromatic wines.

This has the most incredibly deep and fine raspberry aroma that it almost bowls you over on the medium-bodied palate! Great freshness and precision, the little hint of bitterness underlining the forest-berry flavor that builds at the mouthwateringly fresh and uplifting mineral finish. From organically grown grapes. Bottled unfiltered and unfined. Drink or hold.

This is aromatically similar to the Cuvée Ragonneau but with a healthy dollop of floral elements. There is both more volume and notably more minerality on the caressing and punchy medium weight flavors that deliver better length on the balanced and youthfully austere finale that is noticeably more structured. As such, at least a few years of bottle aging are recommended. Drink through 2030+.
