Domaine Ballot-Millot, run today by Charles Ballot, dates back to the late 17th century and holds 10 hectares in Meursault and surrounding villages. The estate has a reputation for meticulous viticulture, low yields, and restrained winemaking. New oak is used sparingly, and fermentations are slow and natural, producing wines with a strong sense of place and remarkable balance. Ballot-Millot has become one of Meursault's most respected addresses.

Genevrieres is the most refined and aromatic of Meursault's premiers crus, marrying exotic spice and floral lift with a satiny, beautifully poised texture.

Other Reviews...
Whiffs of gardenia and exotic tea can be found on the aromas of petrol, pear and the barest hint of wood. The finer, but not denser, middle weight flavors do possess slightly better underlying tension as well as more evident minerality that adds a sense of lift to the youthfully austere, balanced and sneaky long finale. This is very classy, indeed it's pretty much textbook. Drink through 2033+.

The 2023 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru has a focused, delineated bouquet, quite nuanced in style with just the right amount of mineralité and terroir expression. The palate is well balanced with a lovely opening, as orange rind and lemon pith give way to grilled hazelnut and lychee before fanning out with confidence on the finish. Excellent. Drink 2027-2044.

Fine pale lemon. The bouquet has the warmth of the vintage plus the habitual subtlety of Genevrières. A fine thread of stony lemon scented fruit through the middle, a slight warmth at the back, but good acidity. Just needs longer in elevage. Drink from 2029-2035.
