2023 Chateau Montviel
Other Reviews....
The 2023 Montviel is a juicy, plump Pomerol to drink over the medium-term while the fruit remains vibrant. Succulent red plum, cedar, tobacco, mint and blood orange meld together in a juicy, racy Pomerol that is all charm. Silky, plush tannins wrap it up in style. Montviel is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, aged in once-used barrels from Le Gay and La Violette. It's hard to go wrong here. Drink 2028-2043.

Velvety and caressing already, with lovely tannins and outstanding depth of fruit. Medium to full body. Juicy finish.

Red plums, spicy incense, and spring flower notes all emerge from the 2023 Château Montviel, a medium-bodied, supple, elegant 2023 offering beautiful ripeness, ultra-fine tannins, and a good spine of acidity. It's very much in the more lively, elegant style of the vintage while still bringing plenty of ripeness. It should easily be outstanding.

Sweet, juicy, fresh, black cherries, with licorice, and a touch of cocoa in the nose and on the palate. Medium-bodied, bright, and vibrant, with a soft, elegant touch in the finish. The wine will offer pleasure on release. The wine blends 80% Merlot with 20% Cabernet Franc. 14% ABV. Drink from 2026-2037.
