2023 Brokenwood Semillon

Brilliant water like core with a greenish tinged outskirts. Aromas of lemon grass, lime and green apple infused with fresh herbs are followed by some slatey mineral notes. Racy lemon, green apple and lime fruits offer plenty of mouth watering appeal with infusions of fresh herbs and flinty mineral elements lying underneath. Finishes dry with good intensity and a zingy aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

The mown grass, herbs and spring flowers of the bouquet don't prepare you for the depth and generosity of the Meyer lemon and (even) spice of the palate. Good now, but there's plenty waiting down the years. Drink by 2038.

When I first opened this it seemed fruit-driven and simple. It is of course only a few months old. I sat it in the glass for an hour or so and the nose remained estery and fruity, but the palate turned to stones, chalk and apples, with citrus blossom characters on full show too. There’s a dryness here, a noticeable amount of grip, and a confidence to the finish. I’d reckon that we’re onto a good one here. Drink 2025-2030+
