2022 Izway Rob & Les Shiraz

Izway is a partnership of two well-travelled winemakers Brian Conway and Craig Isbel. They like to keep things simple and minimalistic in the winemaking process putting a real emphasis on fruit purity and to this point use mostly older oak. So named as a tribute to two of the boys grandparents, the 2022 Rob & Les is sourced from John, Barb and Andy Kalleske’s Koonunga Hillside & the Hoffmann Mickans vineyards both located in the north of the Barossa Valley. These two vineyards complement each other perfectly and combined with the near perfect vintage conditions of 2022 have produced a wine that has great depth, richness, energy and personality.

Silky, exuberantly fruited and seductive.

Aged in seasoned French oak. Impenetrable inky black heart with a deep dark purple black hue. Soaring out of the glass are flamboyant aromatics of dark plum, liquorice and black cherry which are complimented by fennel, smoky vanillin cedar and blackpepper notes. Rich, plush and sumptuous, the large scaled palate is engulfed with lavish dark plum, liquorice, blackberry and black cherry fruits. Spicy vanillin cedar, infusions of fennel and blackpepper complete the picture. Amply powered with the cooler vintage conditions imparting a blueberry like freshness. Silky yet structured tannins finishing long, exuberantly fruited and seductive.
