2022 Domaine Faiveley Montagny

Montagny is the most southern of the Côte Chalonnaise villages and lies at the border of the Mâconnais. The Chardonnay vines thrive in this rugged terrain where they face east/south-east and are planted on slopes that reach as high as 400 metres above sea level. Twenty percent of this Chardonnay was aged in French oak barrels (10% new) for a period of 12 months with regular stirring.
Brilliant pale straw colour with a watery hue. Aromas of nectarine, peach and bees wax drift through the nostrils followed by hints of crème brulee and wet stone. Generous white peach, nectarine and dried honey flavours carry a refined, river stone like shape across the palate.
Subtle notions of crème brulee and stony mineral characters lie underneath. A lick of brisk acidity freshening up what is otherwise a well rounded finish.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
