2022 Diletto Westgate Syrah

Rich and sleek with a long, savoury finish.

Produced from vines planted in 1969. Dense midnight black core with a dark red hue. Fragrant blackberry and liquorice aromas infused with clove are trailed by some dark chocolate, smoked meat, leather and peppered earth notes. Rich with a plush, well fleshed feel, blackberry, liquorice and dark chocolate flavours are layered across the medium to full bodied palate. Dark plum, subtle clove, earth and peppered meat characters form the underbelly. Polished tannins with a long, sleek and savoury finish.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.

We're only two wines in – last year's Westgate Syrah was the inaugural release – but already it seems as though we have a new star of Australian wine on our hands. This wine is both complex and delicious, its graphite and garrigue characters wrapped in pure plum and bright red cherry; its twig and herb notes infused with woodsmoke and cedar. It's both structured and juicy, and it makes complexity look easy. Drink by 2037.
