2022 Dalrymple Single Site Coal River Valley Pinot Noir

The fruit was handpicked, 88% was destemmed and added to the remaining 12% left as whole bunches for fermentation. Natural fermentation commenced after three days and the must was plunged three times daily. Maturation took place in French oak barriques (30% new) for a period of 10 months.

There is a lovely meaty edge to this year's Coal River Valley release. The fruits lie in the blueberry and red cherry spectrum with plenty of underlying exotic spice, poached rhubarb, pomegranate, amaro herbs, citrus blossom and a whiff of game. But it's that meaty, umami stuff on the palate that grabs you, swelling at first, some sour cherry sweeping in, tannins silty fine and a lacy mineral acid presence provides the pulse. Lovely. Drink 2023 - 2038.
