2022 Blue Poles Allouran
An elegant blend with a focused and compact finish.
A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Midnight black heart with a deep dark red hue. Pronounced red currant and mulberry aromas are trailed by vanillin cedar, dusty earth, tobacco and spice notes. The elegant mid weighted palate features generous red currant and mulberry fruits framed by dusty tannins which provide a sturdy framework. Earth, spicy cedar and subtle tobacco elements sit in the background. Concludes with a focused and compact finish that should become more refined with time.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc. 13.9%
Other Reviews…..
Blackberry, boysenberry, raspberry, cocoa powder, or maybe a mocha thing, black tobacco, a little mint, pencils and floral perfume. It’s medium-bodied, pulls quite savoury and earthy, black olive in the mix, kind of ferrous too, a firm chamois-like grip to tannin, a bit of cranberry crunch to acidity, a little saline nori thing adds an extra dimension, and the finish is long and firm. I like that it has fruit weight and yet it feels ‘mineral’ at the same time. This is an excellent release. Drink 2026-2036+
