Matured for 10 months in French oak. Brilliant very pale straw colour with distinct highlights of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Elevated apricot, peach and honeysuckle aromas drift into hints of ginger and spice. Fresh and elegant yet rich and textural, apricot and peach flavours are underscored by lively acidity with notions of honeysuckle, ginger and delicate spicy almond characters lingering through the back half. Combines tension and length with a long nicely rounded finish. Further bottle age will see it fill out and build texturally.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 13%

Other Reviews…..
Widely considered to be Australia's finest viognier from the stellar 2021 Eden Valley vintage. This is a very good confluence of events! As per usual, it is singing straight out of the bottle, showing all the characters that we have come to expect from this wine. Pristine stone and citrus fruits, the pitch-perfect textural components and savoury nuance. What is apparent, for a great year, is the shimmering acidity, precision, detail and clarity; all cranked up a notch with this release and the wine's energy and drive are spot on. There's been a pretty good run of vintages in this neck of the woods recently but this is the best Virgilius I have seen thus far. Drink by 2029.
