Albert Shiraz is named after Kym Teusner’s Grandfather, Albert Alfred Teusner. This wine is crafted from carefully selected fruit sourced from two top vineyards: one old block in Ebenezer in the Barossa's North, and another in Koonunga in the Barossa's North West. The 2021 vintage in the Barossa was ideal, starting with a cold, wet winter and followed by a cool, sunny spring. The warm, extended ripening season with cool nights resulted in fruit with fantastic flavor, well-balanced acid and tannin.
Magnificent colour featuring an impenetrable inky black heart and an equally deep black dark red hue. Wafting out of the glass with tremendous intensity are potent aromas of ripe blackberry, liquorice, dark plum and dark chocolate. Notions of vanillin oak, mocha, earth and spice lend further nuance to what is a very hedonistic sniff. Decadently rich and lavish, the palate is saturated with blackberry, liquorice and dark plum fruits which carry an opulent texture. Astonishing levels of concentration and power with fennel, earthy dark chocolate, vanillin oak, mocha and spice characters lying underneath. Beautifully polished it has a velvet like yet sturdy tannin framework. Boasting terrific volume and depth, this temptress finishes ultra long, plush and seductive.
Drink over the next 8-10 years.

Other Reviews....
Barossa Valley shiraz doesn't come much better than this. The growing season and vintage conditions were perfect, but few nailed the opportunity as well as winemakers Kym Teusner and Javier Moll. The silky elegance and balance are coupled with purity and freshness in a manner seldom seen. Drink 2024 - 2046.
