Rich, succulent and fleshy textured with a sense of refinement carried through the finish.

Dense pitch black heart with a dark red black tinged hue. Dark plum, liquorice and blackcurrant aromas stream through the nostrils with ample intensity intermingling with some spicy vanillin cedar, tobacco, earth and bay leaf notes along the way. Rich, succulent dark plum and blackcurrant fruits carry a fleshy texture with notions of liquorice, vanillin cedar, subtle tobacco and mint extending across the back half. Fine grained tannins have an underlyingly sturdy feel. The long, deeply fruited finish carrying a sense of refinement.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

Deep crimson with aromas of blackberry, black cherry and blackberry pastille fruit tones alongside hints of fine spice, tobacco, cedar, dried herbs, licorice, choc-mint, espresso and earth. Full bodied and flush with ripe black fruits, tensing with ample fine-grained tannin before releasing with opulent black fruits and a nice energetic line as it slowly fades. Drink by 2040.

Old PL, as he was known to all and sundry, was a mentor to so many Barossa winemakers. He was simply one of the great men of the Barossa. This is a wine demonstrating that the region is not all about Shiraz. In good years you get a wine like this – balanced, poised and powerful, with style. Loads of blackcurrant and dark chocolate with a thread of steely oyster shell adding to the tannin profile. Love it. Drink 2024-2039.
