2021 Haan Estate Wilhelmus

A rich, large scaled Cabernet Blend with a long, deeply fleshed and generous finish.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot matured in a combination of new and used French oak barriques. Impenetrable pitch black heart with a very deep dark red black tinged hue. Wafting through the nostrils are ripe blackcurrant and liquorice scents followed by toasty vanillin cedar, subtle tobacco, earth, spicy dried herb and leather notes. Rich and large scaled, the palate is swamped with ripe blackcurrant, liquorice and toasty vanillin cedar flavours. Bold, powerful and opulent, notions of tobacco, black olive, earthy dark chocolate, dried herbs and spice sit underneath. The tannins are velvety yet solid in their structure with a long, deeply fleshed and generous finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
