2021 Elderton Barossa Shiraz
Matured in predominately older American and French oak puncheons for a period of 24 months. Dense inky black heart with a dark red black tinged hue. Pronounced aromas of fresh red plum, liquorice and choc mint sail out of the glass trailed by spicy vanillin cedar and peppered herb notes. Rich, concentrated and super sleek yet not heavy, dark plum, liquorice and blackberry fruits carry a plush textural feel with notions of spicy vanillin cedar, choc mint and pepper lying underneath. Superb power with velvet smooth tannins finishing long and seductive.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 14.8%

This is one of the best examples of this wine I have tasted. It’s so soft and supple, with flavours that are both exotic and substantial. Brings together fruit from the Greenock area providing punch and tannin, while that from the Nuriootpa vineyards adds a sweet, lush fruit component. It all comes together with a mix of new and used French and American oak. Medium bodied and thoroughly delicious. Drink 2023-2033.

This veritable kaleidoscope of aromas and flavours hails from Elderton’s Eden Valley, Greenock and Nuriootpa vineyards. Soaring Eden Valley black pepper and florals charm from the get-go, with red liquorice, star anise, clove, dried herbs and a lick of espresso chiming in on the palate. Lively acidity teases out the fresh-picked, palate-staining blueberry and blackberry fruit. A fine fretwork of mineral tannins embeds the flavours. Great value for money. Drink 2024-2033.
