Other Reviews....
Once again a subtle but not invisible application of wood frames cool and ripe aromas of green apple, acacia blossom, petrol and airy zest-tinged nuances. Interestingly, the middleweight flavors aren't quite as dense as those of the Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet yet the intensity is even higher, indeed it's almost painful, while flashing impressive power on the gorgeously complex, sneaky long and equally well-balanced finale. This is also stunning but patience required. Drink through 2036+.

Allen Meadows - Burghound

The 2021 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru if the most sensual wine in the range, bursting with aromas of confit citrus, pear and white flowers mingled with notions of praline and freshly baked bread. Full-bodied, satiny and layered, it's the most unctuous, enveloping and rich of Leflaive's whites this year, concluding with a long, expansive finish. Drink 2027 - 2045.

The 2021 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru actually has a more delicate and refined bouquet compared to the Bienvenue. It needs time to open - stunning delineation. The palate is very well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity, good weight and density. I do wonder if the Bienvenue plans to give it a run for its money in this vintage? Why not? Drink 2026-2050.

Clear pale yellow. As always, the Bâtard comes over in much chunkier style after the cashmere texture of Bienvenues. This is hewn out of the rock rather than soft wool. The 2021 Leflaive Bâtard-Montrachet delivers a block of power which will take much longer to come round, while the finish builds to an extraordinary degree. Drink from 2029-2038.
