2021 De Bortoli Riorret The Abbey Pinot Noir
Elegant, supple and long.
Semi translucent red to dark red colour with black toned edges and a light brick red tinged hue. Fragrant red to dark cherry, violet, strawberry and rhubarb scents are complimented by dried herb, earthy bramble and spice notes. Delicious red to dark cherry, strawberry and rhubarb fruits are cast across the palate with a silky flow. Subtle dried herb, bramble and spicy earth characters also chime in. Beautifully polished tannin structure concluding long, supple and elegant.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 13.8%
Other Reviews……
From a De Bortoli-owned vineyard in Tarrawarra, predominantly Abel and Pommard clones. Matured in new and used 500L French puncheons. A medium crimson purple. Aromas of raspberries, red plums and sweet spices lead onto the palate, which is generous, plummy and very drinkable from the get-go. The tannins are very fine so while this is quite delicious now, there's more than enough stuffing for it to keep improving. Drink by 2027.
