2021 d’Arenberg The Custodian Grenache
A rich, succulent Grenache with muscular tannins imparting a gently chiselled feel across the finish.
Matured in old French oak for a period of 12 months. Deep dark red black tinged colour with a dark red hue. Raspberry and liquorice scents infused with a mix of pepper and graphite drift from the glass. Some earthy dried herb notes and a whiff of leather are also apparent. Rich and juicy, the mid weighted palate is awash with dark raspberry, liquorice and dark cherry fruits. Peppered earth and spicy dried herb elements sit in the background. Muscular tannins impart a gently chiselled feel across what is otherwise a succulent finish.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc. 14.5%
Other Reviews…..
Ah, McLaren Vale Grenache is one of life’s great pleasures. In good years it takes that pleasure into a zone of pure hedonism. Perfumed red florals with a little liqueur chocolate and dried herbs. The palate is smooth, seamless and thoroughly delicious. It also has good weight and richness presented with typical finesse and poise. Drink 2024-2032.
